Ashley Hoss, LMFT
As a licensed individual and family therapist, I am committed to providing a caring, open, honest, and judgement-free zone where you can experience God’s love and concern for you. I understand that coming to a therapy session for the first time and talking to a new person about your life can be very intimidating for some. That’s why I work to create a safe space for my clients to feel calm and at ease. Together we will explore the causes of your concerns, establish goals for treatment, and work to arrive at a place of recovery, wholeness, and peace.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor
My goals as a counselor are to help my clients feel safe and at ease in the therapy room, to help them process and verbalize their feelings in a nonjudgmental atmosphere, and to guide and provide options for them as they work toward their treatment goals. I hope my clients will gain the necessary tools for their toolboxes, but also leave feeling heard, validated, encouraged, and understood.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
I offer an open, encouraging, judgment-free environment for my clients to share whatever is on their heart. I believe my clients are the experts on their own lives, so I often let them take the lead during our sessions. While I seek to guide my clients and provide options for their treatment, I don’t pressure them to talk about anything they’re not ready to discuss. With patience and respect, I listen to my clients’ needs and work with them to achieve the outcomes they desire.
My Approach to Christian Counseling
I love talking to my clients about their faith. Since faith is such an integral part of many peoples’ lives, it impacts our decisions, worldviews, relationships, actions, and much more. I believe it’s beneficial to have a distinctly Christian approach to counseling because it gives clients a safe space to talk about their beliefs without judgment or fear, and often provides increased motivation to work toward therapy goals. It’s such a blessing to witness the process of healing with God’s help. I’d love the opportunity to watch Him work in your life as well.
Qualifications & Experience
I am a Licensed Mental Health Professional with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Washington.
I have experience in community mental health, office, and school settings, working with teens and adults to provide the individual and family services they need.
My Call to Christian Counseling
I have known I wanted to be a therapist since I was 17 years old. I chose this career because it felt very natural for me, and is something that I am deeply passionate about. I love hearing the stories of other people and helping them through hard times in their lives.
Another reason I chose a career in Christian counseling is because I want to be there for others in the way I wish someone would have been there for me, particularly during my adolescent years. I struggled with anxiety for many years, and for a long time I didn’t know what it was or how to deal with it. It wasn’t until I was in my late teens that I began to put words to what I was going through and understand that others experienced anxiety, too. I sometimes wish that I would have had someone to help me identify and normalize the anxiety, and help me find ways to cope earlier on. I now hope to be able to serve that role for others.
More About Me/On a Personal Note
I enjoy hot yoga, traveling, reading, movies, board games, being in nature, and playing with my dog, Bentley. I have a large family, and I am blessed to be very close with them. I can relate to those who struggle with anxiety because I have experienced it myself throughout different seasons of my life, but have found many ways to cope with it. I have also been divorced and can relate to those who have experienced the mixture of emotions that accompany a similar kind of loss.

Being a teenager is so hard, especially in our current social climate. Focusing on your teen’s mental health is just as important as focusing on their physical health. I hold a deep passion for working with adolescents who struggle with a variety of concerns, such as issues around identity, self-esteem, hormonal changes, sex/sexuality, school, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, substances, impulsivity, or cyber bullying. It can be helpful for your teen to have someone to talk or vent to, help process experiences, verbalize emotions, and provide new tools in a safe and non-judgmental space. I would love to walk with your son or daughter during this vital time of change and growth.
We tend to worry about countless different things – work, family, friends, school, to do lists, what people think, etc. It can be hard to focus on what really matters when you have a million different worries whirling around your head. I get it. I have personally battled anxiety for much of my life and understand how debilitating it can be. I also have years of experience working with those who suffer from anxiety. I can help you explore where the anxiety stems from, as well as help you find ways to manage it.
Do you constantly feel low? Is it hard to get out of bed or do simple things, like take a shower or fold the laundry? Would you rather sleep than care about the things you use to care about? Do you ever think about suicide? You’re not alone; this is something that many people experience.
Depression is a silent monster who creeps in and makes itself at home. Sometimes you don’t even realize that it has taken up residency until it’s fully moved in and sprawled out all over your living room. I have worked with many people who have suffered from depression. This is a season in your life; just know that it doesn’t have to stay that way. It is possible to conquer this monster and kick it to the curb. You are so much stronger than you think, and I would love to work with you and help you find ways to overcome this dark season.
Grief and Loss
People deal with many types of loss – the death of a loved one, death of a pet, divorce, loss of a relationship, loss of a job, loss of your identity. We all grieve in our own way; there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Grief comes in waves; some days it’s really high and intensely washes over you. Other days it’s subtle, barely rippling. Having a loving place to process this experience and begin to heal can be very beneficial. It would be an honor and a privilege to walk with you on your journey through grief and loss.
Women struggle with a variety of issues, including body image, self-esteem/self-worth, negative self-talk, anxiety, depression, trauma, pressure to be perfect, abortion, fertility, postpartum depression, parenting, career/family balance, taking care of others, or finding a mate. As a woman, I understand the daily expectations set by others to look, feel, think, act, or be a certain way. When I work with women, I help them move into a space where they are able to unapologetically love themselves, feel empowered to put themselves first and focus on self-care, and feel less pressure by societal, external, and internal influences to be perfect.
