My Goal as a Christian Counselor

My goal is to empower you to reach your full potential through our sessions together. I take a holistic approach to counseling so that every part of your being comes together to be in sync. I want you to feel whole after exploring who you are so you can experience healing and gain confidence as an individual.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

I offer a welcoming atmosphere where you can feel comfortable, settled, and fully engaged. I begin sessions by simply checking in and seeing how things transpired in your day before coming to session. This allows me to get an idea of how you are feeling before we dive into any plans for the session. I allow you to guide the session with what you want to explore and will offer practical help and support along the way.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

Incorporating the Christian faith in counseling allows for change to occur on many levels. When the Christian faith is used in counseling, it allows for the spirit to be spoken to which then creates the space for the mind to be transformed. As a Christian practitioner, I consider myself to be an instrument that God uses to guide therapy sessions so the appropriate interventions can take place.

Qualifications & Experience

I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Georgia State University and a Master of Education in Counselor Education from Georgia Southern University. I am also a Specialist of Education in Professional Counseling and Supervision through University of West Georgia and trained in Lifespan Integration Level 1.

My Call to Christian Counseling

I have always been an intuitive person who enjoys conversing with people about their life experiences. After taking a psychology class in high school, I was so intrigued and knew that learning about the mind and behavior was what I wanted to do. This led me to majoring in psychology in undergraduate school. In this program, I interned at a shelter for women facing domestic violence where I interacted with women of all ages and backgrounds. I have always had a love for learning and education so I incorporated that passion with my desire to help began studying counselor education in graduate school. Upon graduation, I started my career as a school counselor.

More About Me/On a Personal Note

I am of Haitian descent and I grew up in New York City where I was surrounded by many other ethnicities and backgrounds. This has enhanced my ability to incorporate a multicultural perspective in my counseling. I am bilingual and speak Haitian Creole. I enjoy traveling and experiencing new places. I am a big foodie who loves to try all types of different foods from many cultures. In my free time, I enjoy biking. Biking is one of the ways I practice self-care. I also enjoy a good gym workout to release endorphins and keep me feeling energized.

Counseling for Teens

As a teenager or adolescent, you go through many changes physically, mentally, and emotionally that impact how you feel about yourself and the way others perceive you. I will work with you to delve into the many transitions that impact you as a teen and how to navigate this very important time in your life.

Relationship Issues

Whether you are dealing with issues surrounding your romantic relationships, friendships, or family, I will help you work through finding the right interventions for you and your loved ones. We will discuss topics such as boundaries, communication, compromise, and more to help build the right set of tools to navigate your relationships.

Codependency

It may feel as though you cannot survive without someone being your only source of strength and support. Know that the God that made you created you to be “fearfully and wonderfully made.” This means that you are clothed in strength and have all that you need within you to be fully whole in this world. Through our sessions, I will help you be empowered to relieve yourself from codependency and be fruitful on your own.

Racial/ethnic Identity Issues

When navigating this world, issues of race and ethnicity can make it difficult to show up authentically in many spaces. Whether it is understanding the scope of your racial/ethnic identity or learning to cope with racial trauma, I can help you process these issues in a safe and empathetic setting.
