Life can be full of stress and trauma. Every person is uniquely made and possesses skills, gifts, and experiences that set them apart from the rest of the world. Yet, for many people, just making it through each day is a feat. Your experiences are your testimony, and I aim to help you process them so you are able to reach your full potential. Whether you’re looking for relationship counseling or individual therapy, it would be my privilege to work with you. I use proven therapeutic techniques in my practice to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships, and your spirituality.
My Goal as a Christian Counselor
If we study ourselves like we study the Bible, our connection to God will only strengthen. As a Christian counselor, I aim to provide my clients with tools that will help them to manage life’s unexpected challenges emotionally and spiritually. My hope is that through our sessions you will gain a deeper understanding of how to combine Christian principles with evidence-based interventions to improve your mental well-being. Therapy is spiritual work, and I help my clients develop the tools necessary to persevere and prevail for a lifetime.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
The journey through the Christian life is not as easy as it was made to seem in Sunday school. I am committed to providing a nurturing, judgement-free, and emotionally safe therapeutic relationship. Therapy is only effective if clients are able to be completely honest, so I encourage each client to bring their full selves to every session. I am committed to helping each client navigate their journey to self and God.
My Approach to Christian Counseling
My faith informs my practice because, like most, I did not get here without the mercy and grace of God. Counseling is my ministry. I serve the Lord by investing in my practice and my faith. My approach to counseling braids together principles from Christianity and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy. My counseling sessions are client-centered and trauma-responsive. For me, the therapeutic relationship and rapport-building are priorities and form the foundation for your journey to improved spiritual and mental well-being.

My Call to Christian Counseling
At an early age I realized that nothing and no one is perfect. I have always been intrigued by people’s journeys and growth because it signifies our resilience. I come from humble beginnings but always felt that God was near. Although I saw family members and others around me struggle, I was equally inspired by their strength. I have always sought to help people realize their strength and purpose. My own trials provided further motivation for me to pursue a career that could help others heal from trauma and achieve their goals.
More About Me/On a Personal Note
I have been married to a wonderful woman for the last three years who is also a mental health professional. I have three living children and one who died in 2016 at 20 years of age. I love working out, hiking, traveling, and spending quality time with family. I am an avid sports fan and former athlete who is still very competitive.

Marriage Counseling/Couples Counseling
Marital conflict or discord is often the manifestation of several breakdowns and dysfunctional patterns. As your counselor, I will help you to identify the root causes of your discord so that we can re-define how you both engage with one another. By unpacking patterns of dysfunctional interactions between you and your partner, I will help you identify and understand what each of your needs are within the relationship. We will then work to restructure your interactions through discussions focused on your fears in the relationship. Each of these endeavors will be centered around honesty and disclosure that uses language that doesn’t push your partner away. During our sessions, I will encourage you to turn toward one another to discuss your needs and become more open and responsive. The ultimate goal is for me to help you both develop the tools and skills necessary to prevent future discord and conflict by creating a pattern of healing-centered communication. Once you have these tools, each partner will be able to contribute to the strength and health of the relationship.
As your counselor, I believe that an understanding of self is the single most important factor to any relationship. Whether you seek to improve your parental or familial relationships or social connections with peers, I can provide you with a set of tools to help you avoid triggers and dysfunctional patterns of behavior. I first focus on your communication style and basic needs so that you begin to understand how to set healthy boundaries that will ultimately protect your overall wellbeing. Once we identify your internal needs, I will then work with you to identify external stressors and the impact they have on your core values and beliefs.
Through strength-finding and skill-building in empathy and compassion, I will help you begin to adopt a more objective approach to problem-solving that takes into consideration varying points of view. We will work together to develop your roadmap for navigating relationships emotionally, spiritually, and socially. Throughout the therapeutic process, we will look at your attachments and bonds objectively to help you connect with others and with God. I will help you to adopt skills that ensure you are able to communicate effectively, set healthy boundaries, and lead a vibrant and harmonious life.
Anxiety is a manifestation of fear or concern often rooted in trauma. When you find yourself in the throes of worry and angst, it becomes nearly impossible to rely on your faith or confidence in yourself. The first step in anxiety counseling is to identify the triggers that cause the anxiety. As your counselor, I will coach you as you develop positive coping strategies to manage your fears and anxiety. We will identify and resolve irrational beliefs and thought patterns and replace them with rational, pro-social habits and thoughts that will help you to regulate your emotions and relationships effectively. Once you identify the sources of your anxiety and recognize your triggers, you can begin to adopt the skills you learn during our sessions to help you lead a more productive life.
Infidelity and Affairs
Infidelity can severely strain a relationship and the people involved. An affair can leave the other person feeling devastated, alone, betrayed, and confused. I work with both parties to re-establish the foundation of the relationship, ensuring that the new relationship will be better and stronger. Infidelity hurts both parties, but with the help of God, the relationship can be repaired and restored. You can heal from infidelity regardless of the role you played. I offer a judgment-free environment where both parties are able to gain insight and understanding from the transgression. Don’t give up on your relationship or yourself without a fight!
I believe that infidelity and affairs are symptomatic of larger root causes in the individual and/or relationship. These root causes tend to be caused by unmet needs, irrational beliefs, or dysfunctional thought patterns. Through therapy, I will help you identify the root causes of infidelity so that you are able to develop a road map for healing.
Anger or rage are complex emotions that can significantly impact your relationships and life. When you do not unpack the source of your anger or rage , it can undermine relationships and it can cause long-term damage to your mind, body, and spirit. As a therapist, I work with my clients to manage their anger through self-awareness. We will work together to identify your triggers, the sources of those triggers, and learn effective coping skills to help you manage and express yourself more productively.
