My Goal as a Christian Counselor
It is my belief that as relational human beings, our relationship with Christ is the most important aspect of each of us individually. I strive to incorporate your personal relationship with Christ within counseling in a holistic manner. I hope that through our time together, you can experience the wholeness and healing our Father offers us. I will aim to empower you to use your own God-given abilities and strengths to overcome the burdens and life situations that are preventing you or holding you back from experiencing joy, health, and wholeness. I will endeavor to help you identify and realize your goals, working with you to promote personal stability as well as growth and change. My hope for you is that, through counseling, you will gain peace and fulfillment in your relationships with God, others, and yourself.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
As a trained counselor, I can offer you professional insight coupled with compassion. I maintain current knowledge of evidence-based counseling methods. In my office, I strive to cultivate a safe, comfortable atmosphere in which you will feel at ease to speak your mind and unburden yourself without fear of judgment. Ultimately, I endeavor to provide you with encouragement and discernment as you journey towards a greater sense of health and wholeness.
My Approach to Christian Counseling
I am a very flexible counselor and strive to adapt my methods to meet the needs of each client who seeks counseling. Throughout our time together, I will check in frequently to determine with you what is working and what needs to change. In general, however, I tend to work from a strengths-based perspective, which means that I will encourage you to discover and use your own strengths to overcome challenges. I am highly collaborative and goal-oriented, and will do whatever I can within my abilities to empower you to meet your goals, whether those include life changes or simply finding peace within your life.

More About Me
I have personally suffered through grief and loss. I have struggled to learn how to live life with long-term health issues and know what it looks like to live with physical pain. I have walked with church families through painful leadership crises, and I know what it means for a community to mourn and heal together. My own experiences walking through trauma have given me an understanding and compassion when supporting others through the challenges that inevitably arise in life. While these periods of my life have been difficult and disillusioning at times, I have come to a place now where I can recognize that God was preparing me for a specific time and calling, and I consider it a privilege to help others discern God’s purpose and calling within their own lives. Following trauma, it can be difficult to pick up and move forward, it is my goal to help others find a way to begin again.
Qualifications & Experience
I received my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California, and my B.Sc. in Behavioral Sciences from Bellevue University. Throughout the past couple of years, I have practiced counseling in a variety of settings: working with hospital patients in a rehabilitation unit; conducting online therapy; supporting persons and their families through home health and hospice; and providing mental health services in a community mental health setting. For the past three years, I have also acted as the executive director of a pregnancy resource clinic, where I have provided individual counseling, and have helped train other counselors to work with women and teens in need of support.
My Call to Christian Counseling
If you had told me early on in life or during my time as a pre-med student that I would someday be a therapist, I would have laughed. However, life circumstances and God-ordained growth opportunities helped me to discern God’s calling into the mental health field. I know that “all things work together for good,” and I look forward to seeing God’s plans play out in my life and the lives of my clients.
More About Me
I have been married for over five years and my husband and I are the blessed parents of an energetic, precocious, and lovable three-year-old boy. My husband has been a constant source of support throughout my training and career, and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without his encouragement and love. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family (including my two dogs) and friends, reading, shopping, camping, and visiting the zoo. I enjoy doing whatever affords me the opportunity to learn something new.
One of my greatest joys as a counselor is being able to provide meaningful, compassionate support to teens. When supporting adolescents, I tend to be goal oriented, helping these individuals build resiliency as they figure out who they are and who they want to be. I also keep the lines of communication open with parents, offering advice and suggesting coping strategies to ease tensions within the family. Whether your teen is facing a crisis, struggling in school, or just needs someone to talk to, I would be delighted to offer myself as a resource for your whole family.
Throughout my training, I conducted extensive research on the best evidence-based treatment methods for eating disorders. I have an understanding of the underlying complications and the symptomatology of eating disorders. I work from a trans-diagnostic perspective and employ the most current, evidence-based treatment options. I am very pleased to offer support in this area, helping you or your loved ones begin the journey towards recovery. When providing counseling to those who suffer from any of these disorders, I typically work in a staged process that begins with psycho-education and ends with changing habits. In between, we will discuss the contributing factors and systemic issues, and discuss day-to-day coping strategies to better ensure lasting, long-term health and well-being.
A strong couple is the basis for a good family and a good society, so when things go wrong in a relationship it can be destructive on a number of levels. As a counselor, I am passionate about supporting couples through the inevitable challenges of a relationship, and will gladly walk with you as you work toward healing with your loved ones. In couples counseling, I strive to be an unbiased yet empathetic facilitator of conversation, normalizing struggles and encouraging healthy communication. I will help you realize your goals of a stable, sustainable relationship.
Throughout my counseling career, I have worked with victims of trauma, and I am trained to meet you where you are in your recovery so that you feel safe, supported, and empowered to heal. If you are recovering from a traumatic event, it is very important that you have support and love. I would consider it a privilege to journey with you on the road to healing.
The Christian community is not always very supportive of women who suffer the aftermath of abortion. I have years of experience counseling women and adolescents who are suffering after having an abortion, and I can promise you that forgiveness and healing are possible. If you have had an abortion and are struggling to recover from your loss, I want you to know that there is a safe and judgment-free space where you can speak freely and begin to move forward.
End of Life Issues
When you or your loved one receives a terminal diagnosis, it can be a very emotionally overwhelming and isolating experience. As a counselor with experience in hospice care, I offer compassionate support to terminally ill clients and their families. When supporting clients through this difficult experience, I strive to help them reflect meaningfully on their life experiences and to frame their lives in a positive way before they experience the final stages of life. It is my goal to help individuals experience peace and fulfillment at the end of their lives and offer support to people throughout the dying process. I would be honored to work with individuals, who are struggling with loss, begin to understand the process and facilitate the process of grieving.
