Background

My training began with a BA in Psychology and a master’s degree from Stanford University. I later earned a BA in Theology, then a Master’s in Counseling and a certificate in Spiritual Direction from the Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).

I  spent more than twenty-five years working with teens and young adults, and I care about helping them make sense of faith in a confusing world. I’ve served as a missionary in four countries, including nearly four years in Japan, and taught in Christian secondary schools for thirteen years. My theological perspective is Trinitarian and Incarnational. I’ve been married since 1988 and have three grown children, which helps shape how I understand the work of marriage, parent, and family counseling.

Individual Counseling

As a believer, counseling coaches you in bringing your faith in Christ into relational problems, depression, anxiety, grieving, men’s issues and spiritual growth. Stress, anger, and feeling stuck are often signs that an old way of life is ending and something new is trying to begin. I’ll help you reframe past events and look with new eyes for what’s emerging.

Couples Counseling

Marriage runs on instinct for awhile. With counseling the ideals of Christian marriage re-emerge: two disciples walking together, communicating from redeemed hearts, expressing the graciousness and love of Christ, with eyes of faith on the future.

Premarital Counseling

Engagement is an exciting season, which is also when it’s easy to overlook issues that will matter later. This is a chance to look honestly at your strengths, differences, and goals with a professional guiding the conversation.

Sessions: I offer 53-minute or 45-minute sessions. Sessions can be held more than once per week, weekly, or every other week. Scheduling options are discussed in greater detail during your Risk-Free Initial Session.

• Online (WA only) – Tuesday Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

Fees: I offer a Risk-Free Initial Session for Individuals and Couples looking to pursue counseling with me. Please note that there is a fee for the Risk-Free Initial Session as it is a clinical hour and reimbursable to most insurance companies, but if you choose not to reschedule and continue therapy after the initial session the entire fee for the session will be waived. For ongoing treatment the full fee per session is required at the time of service.

Insurance: As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) a majority of insurance companies will reimburse for a portion of my services (as an Out of Network Provider). Please consult with your insurance provider as to whether they specifically cover individuals and couples.

Receipts/Statements: In the event you require a printed or digital receipt, I will provide receipts for personal use, insurance reimbursement, Flex Spending Accounts (FSA), and Health Savings Accounts (HSA).

Payment options: Cash, Check, or Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, & American Express). A fee of up to 3.7% plus $0.15 per transaction will be added for credit card payments.
